Looking after new teeth
Crowns, bridges and implants need the same care as natural teeth — and regular check-ups.
- Brush twice a day and clean under bridges with floss threaders or interdental brushes.
- Avoid biting very hard things like ice or bones on new crowns.
- Take dentures out at night and keep them clean.

Questions about replacing teeth
Do implants hurt?
The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. Most people manage the next few days with simple painkillers.
Am I too old for an implant?
Age matters less than your bone and general health. We check both before suggesting one.
Crown or implant?
If the tooth can be saved, a crown keeps your own root. If it can’t, an implant replaces it without cutting the teeth next to it.
